The Love-Lies-Bleeding (Amaranthus) flower enables the sould to encounter and to transmute pain and suffering. Such pain is felt in an intense manner, either as mental anquish, deep-seated bodily torment, or disease. While such suffering usually has a physical component, the experience of agony is also deep within the soul itself. The effect of such torment is to push the consciousness deeply inward; such a person is truly deep-pressed, or in the throes of depression. Love-Lies-Bleeding does not play the role of an analgesic; it does not provide direct relief from such distress.
